Wonky Pop
Music originating in the UK and Europe that the BBC called “quirky, catchy and credible pop,” rooted in the eccentric side of 1980s pop music. Musicians tended to perform live acts with fresh melodies in reaction to a sense that pop music had become manufactured and stale. Major inspirations cited for wonky pop acts included David Bowie, Kate Bush, Kylie Minogue, Prince, and Madonna. 2005–2010s.
